Paint markings on a section of road, used to suggest drivers to slow down. The design is usually shaped as traffic_calming=mini_bumps or traffic_calming=table.

They may also delineate minor roads from collector roads (where they may be called "Threshold", "Gateway", or "Entry Statement" treatments). Typically, this also signifies crossing speed zones.

A change in material (e.g. brick, concrete. cobblestone) would cause noises or vibrations which are commonly mapped as traffic_calming=rumble_strip.
